Felker began as a small, family-owned company founded by
Mr. Walton A. Felker. A skilled chemist and pharmacist,
he had observed the need for engineered circular diamond
blades to replace the crude metal disks then used for cutting
ceramic tile, minerals and geological specimens. In 1924,
Mr. Felker invented and began commercial production of the
world's finest notched edge impregnated diamond blade -
the Rimlock.
The Rimlock blade was an immediate success. By the time
World War II began, Mr. Felker had designed a full series
of cut-off machines. These included tile saws, several industrial
models for cutting glass, ceramics, carbide tool tips and
precision models which, combined with Rimlock diamond blades,
were ideal for cutting quartz frequency crystals for radios
and walkie-talkies. The importance of Felker's contribution
to the success of the war was considerable.
Mr. Walton A. Felker's invention of the Rimlock blade led
him to develop many other types of diamond, diamond core
drills, and the precision machines on which to use them.
Always the innovator, he caused the name "Felker"
to be synonymous with quality diamond tools used all over
the world.
Today, Felker continues its rich tradition as an industrial
leader in tile and masonry saws as well as diamond blades
and abrasives. Production on the
Rimlock had ceased as technological advancements have allowed
for new innovation and design that have increased quality
and performance. Products such as the Tile Master® Tile
Saw and the Pavermate Masonry saw, along with all
other Felker blades and equipment have contributed to
Felker's
success. At present Felker is a division of Husqvarna
Construction Products North America. Felker's corporate
office is in Olathe, Kansas, with two manufacturing facilities
in the United States.
